ISERH EXC. DIRECTOR BECOMES AMERICAN EXPRESS LEADERSHIP ACADEMY ALUMUS!

Abdulahi left Nigeria in January to get professional development as an Atlas Corps Fellow serving in the capacity of Program Impact and Evaluation Fellow with the world largest volunteer organization – Points of Light, but little did he know that he was going to the land where his leadership development shall be further strengthened.

Abdulahi was among the hundreds of applicants for the 2017 American Express Leadership Academy but he was amazingly among the 48 selected across the United States of America, one of the 3 Africans and 2 Nigerians selected for the academy. He topped the list of the arranged profiles of the entire 48 Alumni of the 2017 Academy.

The 2017 American Express Leadership Academy was held at Seattle, Washington State between June 21 to 23 2017, and was coordinated by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), with the support of Points of Light. According to Change Style Indicator ran on him, Abdulahi was identified as a True Pragmatist who occupies the equilibrium point between Conserver and Originator. He prefers change that addresses specific, real problems and prefers to avoid change that seems to be only for “the sake of change”. He is practical, reasonable and flexible in his approach to change. He is open to new ways of doing things but not too quick to commit. He serves as a perfect mediator and prefers a “middle-of-the-road” approach.

Abdulahi’s leadership strengths, according to the indicator, is that he likes to have goals and objectives to guide him. He fosters teamwork and he is willing to share leadership and power with others. He usually is able to see both sides of an issue and may serve as a mediator, valuing resolution more than his own position. He studies and learns from his mistakes and tends not to make the same mistakes again.

He was assigned a coach, - Timothy (Tim) Altaffer â€“ who is a Certified Executive Coach, accomplished Executive (with over 10 years’ experience as CEO), successful senior consultant and facilitator, professor at graduate business schools and board, elected Director of ICF Brazil -, who shall coach him for a period of 12 months on his leadership weaknesses which include: valuing agreement and harmony over outcomes, and slowing at making decisions.

The entire Management and Staff of the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) felicitate and congratulate the man who believes in making education accessible to young people through reducing failure rates in High School Leaving Examinations and Universities/Colleges Entrance Examination, and a core leader working tirelessly to solving the challenges of leadership facing Africa through providing 21st Century and Leadership Skills to every young people that pass through his organization (ISERH) – Mr. Abdulahi Abayomi Abdulraheem.

At ISERH, we are consistently proud of you sir. Many more zeniths attained.

Signed,

Abimbola Mutiu,
