Emmanuel Komolafe emerged the ISERH 2017 Best Speller after winning the maiden edition of I-Spelling Bee and Words Search Competition, held on Thursday 9th March, 2017, after defeating other contestants from 3 Local Government Areas of Osun State to clinch the title. Emmanuel Komolafe who represented his school, First Class High School, Isale General, Ilesa, Ilesa West Local Government of Osun never relented after he emerged ISERH Best Speller, he further worked closely with his coaches, Mr. Samuel and Mr. Isaac, for the purpose of improving his spellings.

The I-Spelling Bee and Words Search Competition of the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) seriously challenged him and set his pace on the dream of being a contestant in any organized spelling competition. Hence, he got registered to contest for the Young Educators Foundation National Spelling Bee Competition for Nigeria.

He made it to the national level, after defeating other contestants at the local, state and regional levels of the competition. At the states category of the competition held in March, 2017, across the 36 States of the Federation, State Capital Territory inclusive, Emmanuel emerged one of the five best contestants to represent Osun State at the national level. He competed alongside contestants from other states in the 2017 YEF National Spelling Bee Competition held in Lagos on Wednesday 26th April 2017 and won a Trophy as the 2017 Second Runner-up.

(L-R): Star Prize Recipient, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up (Emmanuel)

Our Emmanuel lost the Star Prize and First Runner-up positions to 2 female students of Ambassadors College, Ota, Ogun State, after a very heated contest. The Star Prize Recipient shall be representing Nigeria in the Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington, USA, later this year. Emmanuel received, along with his trophy, a sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000); his school was given the same amount while his coach (tutor) was given a sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000).

As we congratulate Emmanuel for making us proud, we heartily congratulate the proprietor (Mr Isaac Olaniyi) and the entire Management/Staff of First Class High School, Ilesa, Osun State for this amazing achievement. We congratulate ourselves for our unrelenting efforts towards improving the standard of education, not only in Osun State but across the federation.

Without our sponsors and believers of our projects, we wouldn't have achieved so much - we appreciate you all. We further commend the efforts and commitment of our team, ISERH Management Team, for putting together the maiden edition of I-Spelling Bee Competition that now awakened the giant in Emmanuel and other participants.

We strongly hold the belief that:

‘Together, we shall make this country great again…’
