We, the ISERH Ambassadors, who are currently undergraduate students of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife networked among ourselves and formed OAU ISERH FORUM (OIF) on Saturday 11th of March, 2017 as a mark of the end of the 2015/2016 Academic Season of our institution. ISERH Ambassadors are the beneficiaries of the ISERH SSCE sponsorship after we have proven ourselves worthy by scoring 75% and above in the Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) of the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health. In totality, Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) now has over 79 beneficiaries of its annual SSCE sponsorship of whom about 45 of us are now in various higher institutions of learning.

We, ISERH beneficiaries, are further sub-divided into ISERH Ambassadors â€“ those of us who passed the post ABC interview and whose parents consented our being monitored and guided by the organization; and ABC Scholars whose their parents never consented to their being monitored and guided by the organization.

In Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, there are 11 of us in the institution’s various departments ranging from Medicine, Medical Rehabilitation, Micro-Biology, Computer Sciences, Accounting, Architecture, Quantity Survey etc. OAU ISERH Ambassadors are the first ambassadors to form (campus) ISERH Forum.

The OAU ISERH Forum meeting was held at ODLT 2 Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile - Ife at 3:00 pm with 7 Ambassadors in attendance which include IA Damilola Okoli, IA Kudirat Abiodun, IA Daniel Olufemi, IA Ridwan Ibrahim , IA Samuel Oluwafemi, IA Micheal Teniola, IA Peter Akindele while 4 Ambassadors were unavoidably absent which include IA Kehinde Fasunle, IA Oluwaleke Fakorede, IA Oluwafunmilayo Ajayi, and IA Oluwajomiloju Ayodeji – all from different departments and faculties of the institution.

The meeting afforded us the opportunity to network and discuss issues ranging from academics, interpersonal relationship, ISERH progress, expansion of Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) to cover more cities and states of the federation, tapping scholarship opportunities, to our commitment to being great Ambassadors of the organization. On academics, which is our primary objective/purpose of being in the University, we all discussed our performances and Grades to knowing where we could offer a help to one another. It was gathered that majority of us are performing excellently well academically, as most of us are in first class/distinction despite the financial challenges faced by some of us. This led us to requesting for opportunities to access scholarships and we hereby call on well-meaning individuals, groups, corporate organizations and government to kindly come to our aid, in terms of scholarship, to avoid sudden termination of the financially poor ambassadors among us.

We as well commended the efforts of ISERH in making us good leaders and as well appreciated Chief Bosun Falore for giving university scholarship to one of us – ISERH Ambassador Samuel Sayo Oluwafemi, an undergraduate of Accounting Department. We hereby enjoin other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Chief Bosun Falore in supporting ISERH and its Ambassadors towards building the future leaders our nation demands and deserves.

Tutorials and group discussions were recommended for ourselves with the motive of improving in our academics and grades. Those in distinction were further encouraged to maintain their GP so as to break the record of the first Ambassadors to graduate with distinction. We discussed establishing tutorial for the ISERH Ambassadors/ABC Scholars that are yet to gain admission into higher institutions – especially those who choose Obafemi Awolowo University.

Our responsibilities to the organization (ISERH) were further reviewed and discussed while we came up with the following points:

1.      Development of our institution’s ISERH forum coupled with active and special participation in ISERH programs e.g. ISERH Annual Recognition Awards.

2.      Extension of Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) participation to Ile-Ife and other cities within and outside Osun State.

3.      Gaining more leadership skills from ISERH and also championing Academic programs and outreaches to Secondary Schools across the state.

4.      Responding to any Developmental as well as enlightenment programs of the organization.

We further encouraged ourselves to be active on WhatsApp and Facebook groups/pages; online meetings/strategies; end of the month’s meeting (date to be fixed); and the development of OAU ISERH Forum logo.

The Forum’s meeting came to conclusion with the appointment of Executives that shall be steering the affairs of the Forum and these following people were collectively nominated and appointed into the 3 key positions jointly established for the forum:

1.      IA Daniel Olufemi – President    (his facebook link)

2.      IA Kudirat Abiodun – Secretary  (her facebook link)

3.      IA Damilola Okoli – Public Relations Officer (PRO)

We hereby appeal and request the support of well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organizations and government to come to the aid of the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) and its Ambassadors for financial and material supports and Scholarships.

Together, we can make our nation great!!!

Signed:
