ISERH HONOURS NEOC INVITATION TO "NIGERIA ECONOMIC OUTLOOK CONFERENCE 2017"

It was a great experience for the duo of Miss Fasilat Oluwabunmi Adigun (ISERH Account Officer) and Mr. Abdulkabir Adedayo Sanni (ISERH Head of Administrative and Community Service) who represented the organization at the conference that was held at Eko Hotel and Suite, Victoria Island on Tuesday Jan. 17 2017 and which was given a live television coverage by the African Independence Television (AIT).
The conference was blessed to have 5 distinguished speakers who made up its panel session: Mr. Aliyu A. Abdulhammeed - MD/CEO, The Nigeria Incentive Based Risk Sharing System for Agriculture Lending (NIRSAL); Mr. George Mavrotas - Country Director, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI); Mr. Dolapo Oni- Head, Energy Research, ECOBank Group; Mr. Paul Wallace - Emerging Markets Reporter, Bloombery LP; and Mr Ogho Okiti - the CEO, Time Economics.

Mr. Ogho Okiti identified insufficient infrastructures, low level of urbanization, poorly educated and unskilled labours, low level of technology adoption, bad governance, poor energy infrastructure, poor educational skills' acquisition, and unfavourable business environment as the major factors responsible for low productivity and economic downturn we currently experience in Nigeria, which now have adverse effects on job creation.
In his own presentation, Mr. Aliyu Abdulhammeed upheld the fact that Nigeria has a total landmass of 910,768 SQ/KM, Water resources of 13,000SQ KM but with an increasing population of over 180 million people who never hold the believe of changing the economy via farming and agricultural produce. He identified agriculture as the key strategic factor to stimulate Nigerian economy. He urged Nigerian youth to leverage on mechanical farming to transform their economic status which invariably translates to diversification of Nigerian economy, since the government has increased allocation for agriculture in 2017 budget, coupled with the recent partnership established by his organization (NIRSAL) and CBN (across the nation) to give more loans to agriculture. He noted that only two states (Ogun and Sokoto) allocate more for agriculture and thereby urged all other states to emulate them.

It was really a great conference designed to positively influence our thinking towards economic diversification and ISERH has used the opportunity to strengthen her campaign for agricultural productivity of Nigerian youth with the major purpose of shaming unemployment and banishing hunger from our land.
Together, we shall make NIGERIA a hunger-free nation!!!
