Thursday 21-Nov-2019, 6:17AM / 3044

Four Hundred (400) Students were successfully counseled and motivated at Ogedengbe School of Science, Ilesa, Osun State when Enriching the Unreached Team arrived their school. The Principal and Staff of this great School joined the leagues of the best we have ever met since we commenced this project ‘ENRICHING THE UNREACHED’. The school was readily awaiting our presence when we got there, while the Principal was enthusiastic to receive us as he first led us to his office for initial discussions prior to the commencement of the program. The Teachers and the Students of Osun State College of Education Ilesa who are undergoing their Teaching Practice, seriously coordinated the session. The Principal could not hide his surprise in the perfect conduct, silence and inspiring patience exercised by his students.

The Team of #enrichingtheunreached arrived at Ogedengbe School of Science, Ilesa, Osun State on Thursday 26th of May, 2016 in continuation of reaching out to 10,000 High School Students across Osun State. The Team led by Mr. Abdulahi Abayomi Abdulraheem, the Founder/Executive Director of Initiative for Sound Education Relationship & Health (ISERH) commenced their presentations around 11:30am in the School’s Hall. In presence were the School Principal, VP, Teachers, Teaching Practice Students, and the School’s Students.

ABC Scholar Oluwatimilehin Daniel Oluwafemi (19), an Old Boy of the School and a Student of Medical Rehabilitation, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, really challenged the students with his story. He told them how he developed his dream of studying Neurosurgeon and how he used to fail Physics and Mathematics while in the school. Although, he used to be the Overall Best Student, but, his inability to be the best in Mathematics and Physics forced him to start attending a Coaching Center that was very far to their house. He explained how he scored 77% in Mathematics for the first time while in SS 2, but scored 33% in English Language that used to be one of his best subjects. He related how he used to teach his colleagues and helped them in solving the assignments given to them at their various Coaching Centers.

He explained how he came across Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) and how he passed it while his elder brother ABC Scholar Sayo Samuel Oluwafemi failed it (2014). He never forgot to inform them about his admission into Geology Department, University of Ibadan simply because he scored 73% while 80% was the Cut-off Mark for Medicine (his dreamed course). He explained how he emerged the Second Best in the department despite the fact that he was nursing the ambition of studying Medical Rehabilitation at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

He got the students and everyone in attendance laughing when he expressed his envy towards his elder brother’s performance when he re-sat for the Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC). His elder brother, ABC Scholar Sayo Samuel Oluwafemi (22) emerged the Overall Best Student and the Highest Scorer when he re-enrolled for Aspiring the Best Competition (ABC) in 2015, was lavishly decorated and celebrated more than he was, because he was not the Highest Scorer when he won the Competition.

At the end, he expressed his gratitude to the Principal and Teachers that taught him while in the school. He reaffirmed and reignited the confidence of the students in sitting and writing their SSCE in the school as he and his colleagues did in 2014 and made their results. He explained the evil of writing Examinations with ‘Liberation Centers’ branded as Educational Consults that abound the state and perpetrate all forms of Examination Malpractices.

He appreciated his parents and gave glory to God Almighty Who made his and his brother’s dreams come through. Both siblings have been admitted to read Medical Rehabilitation and Accountancy at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He identified Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole (IFA), the Minister of Health, as his Role Model.

He ended the session by appreciating Mr. Abdulahi Abayomi Abdulraheem for being there as a Mentor for him and the rest of the youths that come across him. He appreciated him for his sacrificial efforts to building the future of the Nation and giving Hope to the Hopeless.

The Principal, Mr. Adebayo, sincerely commended the Team, prayed for them and expressed his readiness to continue molding his Students for the tomorrow of the State and the Nation at large. The Senior Prefect of the School, Adegbaju Micheal, appreciated the Team on behalf of his colleagues. ISERH MENTEES’ CLUB was institutionalized while the interesting students have been asked to put their names down with Adegbaju Micheal and Olukanni Mayowa.

The Team has successfully, in total, reached out to 881 Students leaving it with a deficit of 9,119. The Program continues in other schools across the State.
