ISERH GIVES 130 STUDENTS OF AJIMOKO MIDDLE SCHOOL, ILESA EXERCISE BOOKS, TEXT BOOKS, PENS AND PENCILS

The exercise that targeted just 50 students of the school experienced a transformation towards impacting 130 students. It was a beautiful and memorable Wednesday, 3rd October 2018, for the students and the staff of Ajimoko Middle School, Ilesa, Ilesa West Local Government, Osun State, Nigeria, as a team of Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) led by Aderanti Abimbola Mutiu – Director of Programs, arrived the school to distribute the learning materials to the needy students.

The team had a plan of giving the learning materials to just 50 students but the Principal of the school - Mrs. Adeyoju Shubulade Abosede pleaded for its evenly distribution to 130 students, as almost all their students are lacking the basic learning materials. The students were given exercise books, textbooks, pens and pencils.

Having known that schools in the state often face challenges of inadequate teaching materials, ISERH presented 3 cartons of chalks to the school. In many occasions are students left untaught or ended classes earlier consequent upon shortage or lack of chalks to write on the board.

In his address to the students, ISERH Director of Programs emphasized on the needs for them to keep their head high above any challenge that poses threat to their education. He assured them of a better future as there’s always a reward for hard work. He concluded by sharing the sorry story of the founder of the organisation, Abdulahi Abayomi ABDULRAHEEM that has now metamorphosed into success story. He concluded that Abdulahi’s story should be an enough inspiration/ motivation for any young poor/vulnerable and hapless student to learn and work hard to attain greatness, no matter the difficulties s/he and his/her parents are facing.

The principal of the school - Mrs. Adeyoju Shubulade Abosede appreciated the organisation for picking the school and her students as beneficiaries of this project. She added that the distribution of the materials to the students was timely as the schools just resumed from their terminal break in the state. She reiterated the staff’s commitment to hard work as well as their readiness to support in actualizing the mission of the organization’s project. She appreciated all the donors of the project, GlobalGiving and ISERH management.

Isiaq Akinwole - ABC Project Director, and Ms Ossenat Temitope Abdulsalam -Director of Finance and Operation, made up the team that took the good news to the students.

At Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH), we are committed to reducing the number of out-of-school youth, promote open access to learning, and support schools with teaching aids and learning materials. We appreciate those who donated towards this project, directly or through GlobalGiving.
